On May 10, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released a consultation paper on the issue of “Net Neutrality”. The department had raised the issue of “Net Neutrality” on May 3, 2010. The department received comments from various stakeholders like Internet Service Providers (ISPs), consumer associations, and consumers and submitted their views in a consultation paper. TRAI has asked all the stakeholders to make their view clear on the issue of “Net Neutrality”, stating that it will not accept comments made in favour of “Net Neutrality”. “The primary goal of the consultation is to allow the stakeholders to interact with the TRAI on issues concerning broadband services and broadband providers,” said the department. “It also seeks the views of stakeholders on the future direction of broadband services, specifically “Net Neutrality”,” it added.
